Celebrity Weddings Database

There was no shortage of star power at this wedding. Guests ranged from Sting to Stella McCartney, Gwenyth Paltrow to designer Donatella Versace.

Who: Singer/actress Madonna and filmmaker Guy Ritchie

When: New Year's Eve, 2000

Where: Skibo Castle, Scotland

The Event: This 19th century castle, tucked in the Scottish Highlands, gave the star couple the private setting they required for their nuptials. This magnificent setting first had the Celtic name Schytherbolle, which appropriately enough translates to fairyland or place of peace. This fairytale setting offers 21 bedrooms; the couple booked the entire property for their ceremony.

A special song was even written for the occasion. Rob Ellis wrote All I Ever Needed for the big day.

The Dress: The bride wore a gown designed by Madonna's friend Stella McCartney, daughter of Paul McCartney, who is a designer for Chloe. The groom wore a kilt featuring his family clan.

Add some starlit touches of your own...

If you liked Madonna and Guy Ritchie's nuptials, consider how you can add some stellar touches to your own ceremony. For example:

• consider a castle wedding. Along with Skibo, you'll find numerous castles throughout Scotland. Click here for an article on Scottish castle weddings.

• think about booking an entire property for your ceremony. Many bed and breakfast inns can be completely booked for your wedding; your wedding party can enjoy each other's company throughout the property and you won't have to worry about disturbing other guests. If your budget permits, many small resorts also allow wedding groups to take over the entire property, especially during low season.
