Who: Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger and TV broadcaster Maria Shriver

When: May 1986

Where: St. Francis Xavier's Roman Catholic Church, Hyannis, Mass.

This stellar event was attended by stars whose fame extended from the political to the bodybuilding world. Jackie Onassis, John F. Kennedy, Jr., Ethel Kennedy, Ted Kennedy, and other family members represented the bride's side of the family; former Mr. Universe Franco Columbu stood up as Schwarzenegger's best man.

The Event: Over 450 guests watched the exchange of vows by this famous couple at this church which has a long association with the Kennedy family, one where both JFK and RFK once served as altar boys.

The event followed a rehearsal dinner at the Hyannis Port Country Club; the elegant property featured both Austrian and Cape Cod dishes ranging from Wiener schnitzel to lobster, strawberry shortcake to Sacher torte.

The Dress: The bride wore gown by Christian Dior's Marc Bohan with an 11-foot train.

A Special Moment: Oprah Winfrey read Elizabeth Barrett Browning's "How Do I Love Thee?"

The Reception: The reception was held at the Kennedy compound. The outdoor affair was contained beneath white tents, each designated for a different purpose: cocktails, dinner, and dancing. Foods included oysters, lobster and chicken breasts with champagne sauce.

The couple's wedding cake weighed in at over 400 pounds. The seven-foot-tall cake was a replica of the one served at Sargeant and Eunice Shriver's wedding.

Add some starlit touches of your own...

If you liked Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver's nuptials, consider how you can add some stellar touches to your own ceremony. For example:

• consider asking a friend to do a reading at your wedding, a good idea if there's a poem you'd like to read but are a little worried about sounding nervous on the big day

• honor your parents with a replica of their wedding cake, a dish that was served at their wedding reception, or other touches
