Weddings at Little Church of the West, Las Vegas

Location: on the Strip south of most hotels

What’s Unique About This Chapel: This wooden chapel is a gem and one we can personally recommend having done our vow renewal here. Located at the far end of the Strip, just south of the airport turnoff, this chapel’s location adds to its uniqueness since most of its competitors lie in the downtown area. The shady grounds also give the chapel a sense of privacy plus several venues for wedding photos and quiet moments before or after your ceremony.

The chapel also has a unique history. Originally it was constructed as part of the Last Frontier Hotel; since 1942 it has served as a favorite for celebrity brides and grooms. Roy Rogers served as usher at one of the chapel’s first weddings and, since that day, well-known names have walked down this aisle and departed as husband and wife. Famous names who wed here include Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton, Betty Grable (who had the first celebrity wedding here), Zsa Zsa Gabor, Mickey Rooney, and Dudley Moore. You might even recognize the church from the big screen: Elvis Presley and Ann-Margret “wed” here in Viva Las Vegas, departing to the sound of ringing church bells.

Traditional Wedding Packages: The Little Church of the West offers several packages, starting with the “Beginning Package” (which is what Angelina and Billy Bob opted for), including the chapel fee, rose and carnation bouquet, groom’s boutonniere, seven-photo package, music, and a marriage license holder.

Keeping an eye on the budget? You can also opt to just pay the chapel fee then add on other features as you like such as photos, recorded music, etc.

Although your photos will arrive as traditional print photos, several high-tech options are available including a one-month webcasting or a DVD of the ceremony.

Vow Renewals: You can choose any of the packages for a vow renewal as well. You’ll still need to pay the minister’s fee ($40) although you don’t need to purchase a marriage license.

For our vow renewal, we paid the chapel fee ($75), recorded music ($10), and seven photo package ($49).

The Chapel: Listed in the National Register of Historic Places, this charming wooden building has an Old West atmosphere without feeling too themed. The cedar interior is lit by Victorian lamps; long wooden pews give the chapel a traditional feel.

Our Evalation: This is one chapel we highly recommend. From the first (completely anonymous) call to the ceremony to the arrival of our photos, everything was friendly, professional, and just as promised. We’d happily choose this chapel all over again.
