Weaving Classes in Mexico

Learn to weave the rebozo, a handmade shawl that can take up to four days of labor.

The small town of Santa Maria del Rio, located 30 miles from San Luis Potosi, is known as the birthplace of the rebozo.

History:

In 1953, under the patronage of the state government, a school was opened to continue the rebozo-making tradition among younger generations.  For more than 50 years, both locals and tourists have been participating in complimentary classes instructing students on the process.
