Articles on some of the world's most romantic destinations by
professional photographer Eleanor S. Morris

Scarborough Faire in Waxahachie, Texas

continued from page 1

JOUSTING

The Black Heart Jousting Company, skilled theater and Hollywood professionals, bring decades of experience in jousting, stage combat, horse stunts and riding tricks, and top-level horsemanship. Fresians, Andulasians, Draft and Warmblood horses are used in a great show of exploding lances, swords, whips, and a funny dramatic knights-in- shining-armor spectacular. You'll enjoy a colorful jousting tournament packed with action, style, handsome knights, beautiful horses, speed, laughs, and sizzling romance, with something for every member of the family.

SHOPPING

About 200 charming Tudor shops are filled with handmade, one- of-a-kind jewelry, stained glass, worked wood, sculpture, pottery, leatherwork, clothing, paintings and drawings.

FOOD

Five major food areas, as well as numerous shoppes and kiosks, will keep you deliciously nourished. The King of Foods is the Turkey Leg, so special that was featured on the Food Network. Scarborough Faire prepares this by oven roasting with special seasonings, rather than some pre-smoked and re-heated turkey legs found at other events.

The Scarborough Bakery is home to sweets so delectable that you'll want to take some home with you. Other of the more than 60 offerings available are Steak-on-a-Stake, chicken-on- a-stick, pasta, salads, fish 'n chips, and fresh fruit.

WHERE AND WHEN

This yearly event takes place Saturdays and Sundays from early April through Memorial Day May 30.

Admission is $18.99 for adults and $6.50 for children ages 5-12. Children under 4 are admitted free.

The festival is located near Waxahachie. just 30 miles south of Dallas off I-35 at exit 399A. Admission includes free parking, continuous entertainment and craft demonstrations. Tickets are available on-line, by mail, by phone or at the castle gates. For more information call 972-938-3247, 1-888-533-7848 or visit www.ScarboroughRenFest.com.
