Good value, lots of options,
and an expansive all-inclusive program draw travelers to Sunset Beach
Resort and Spa, located just west of Montego Bay, Jamaica. Positioned
on its own private peninsula, this large property is named for its westward-looking
beach which lives up to its moniker and offers one of Jamaica's best sunset
views.
Whos There?
Couples, singles, and families
are welcomed at this property, which is also especially popular with groups.
Couples with a short three- or four-night stay will find the resort convenient
for Montego Bay air connections.
Although weddings are not part of the all-inclusive offerings, a bridal
package does keep the wedding gazebos frequently booked with nuptial ceremonies,
often with sizeable wedding parties. The resort also features a supervised
children's program, making the facility a good choice for honeymooners
blending families or bringing along a wedding party including children
ages 2-12.
Accommodations
Guest
rooms are divided between two high-rise towers--the Sunrise and Sunset
Towers--and the 120-room low-rise Beach Inn. The rooms of the 10-story
towers offer some of the more expansive views and also position guests
closer to the public areas, lobby, casino, bars, and restaurants. Rooms
at the Beach Inn are preferable for guests who want to be nearer the sea
or want to avoid the activity of the lobby.
All guest rooms include full baths, hair dryers, telephones with voice
mail, color cable TV, in-room safes, irons, ironing boards, and private
balconies with either a sea, bay, or mountain view. Maximum occupancy
in guest rooms is three adults or two adults with two children under age
12. Cribs are also available.
The resort also offers eight one-bedroom suites, accommodations featuring
a separate living room and multiple balconies. Six of the suites also
feature a Jacuzzi tub. Maximum occupancy in a suite is four adults or
two adults with three children under age 12.
Public Areas
Guests arrive in a breezy open-air lobby, which houses check-in, a gift
shop arcade, a slots-only casino, lobby bar, and more. The lobby serves
as a favorite gathering spot for guests in the evening hours, just steps
from the main pool and from the evening entertainment area.
Along with three freshwater pools and an oversized hot tub, the resort
is home to three beaches (including one nude beach, set at the far end
of the property.) A full watersports center offers snorkeling, sunfish,
sailing, kayaking, and paddleboats. Other options include a lighted four-court
tennis center, shuffleboard, miniature golf, beach volleyball, a fitness
center and aerobics facility, and more. A daily activity program keeps
even the most restless clients busy.
At press time, the resort
is also adding a themed water park with slides, waterfalls, a meandering
river, Jacuzzis, a pirate ship, a wedding gazebo and more. Other additions
and renovations to the property include a completely upgraded children's
facility including a kiddie pool, an expansion and upgrading of the Banana
Walk buffet restaurant, a new beach bar, grill and entertainment area
to replace the existing facilities, an upgraded Tennis Pavilion with viewing
stands and additional function area, and public area renovations to the
garden wing.
The resort is also home to the Sunset Beach Spa; treatments are not part
of the all-inclusive plan. Open daily, the spa offers several kinds of
massage, salt scrubs, facials, and hydrotherapy as well as a steam room
and sauna. Packages of spa experiences, such as the "Sunset Glow,"
featuring a honey-almond scrub, seaweed wrap, and manicure, can also be
booked. A salon offers beauty and hair treatments.
In the evening hours, nightly shows range from Elvis impersonators to
fashion shows. Night owls can dance the evening away at The Galaxy disco
or head to the slot machine room. A video arcade is also available.
Dining
Lovers have their choice of three restaurants: Italian food at Botticelli,
Chinese dishes at Silk Road, and around the clock dining at Banana Walk
Buffet Restaurant with indoor and al fresco dining. Reservations are required
for both Silk Road and Botticelli; guests may dine at each restaurant
once per stay. Additionally, the Sunset Grill also offers light fare,
including popular jerk chicken, at poolside. Six bars and lounges including
a swim-up pool bar also tempt travelers.
Couples with an interest in Jamaican food can book during the resort's
annual International Jamaican Jerk/Southern Style BBQ Cook-Off, always
scheduled in September. With over three dozen competing teams, guests
can wander among booths and enjoy the festivities and food.
Service
Service at the hotel is friendly and efficient. Concierge service can
assist with arranging island excursions. A car rental desk is also available
for clients who would like to explore on their own. Other services include
currency exchange, baby sitting, and a shuttle bus service.
What Do Rates Include?
Rates include accommodations, all meals and beverages, water sports, land
activities, nightly entertainment, taxes and tips.

marriage officer, processing of all documents, witnesses, services of
