Flying
with Romance in Mind
continued from Romantic
Travel in High Security Times
A trip through the airport
these days is enough to sour even the most romantic mood. Don't let it!
You can still have a wonderfully romantic getaway that begins and ends
with air transportation just by taking a few extra steps:
- Arrive plenty early.
Nothing creates stress faster than worrying if you'll get through the
lines in time to catch your flight. Leave plenty of time for airport
check-in and your trip through security. Have time to kill before your
flight? Plan a little mini-shopping spree or hit the airport bar for
a "date" before you go! Anything's better than fretting over
missing your flight.
- Pack smartly. Remember,
your luggage may very well be manhandled, literally. If you don't want
your new bridal trousseau sorted through (and, in the case of carry
on baggage, sorted through in front of you and other surrounding passengers),
pack your intimate items in clear, ziplock bags. The bags allow security
to quickly move through your luggage and keeps your thongs and teddies
pristine.
- Brides: make your flight
reservations in your maiden name. Even if you can't wait to use
your new name, remember that the name on your airline ticket and your
passport or other official documents must be exactly the same. You'll
have plenty of time to use that new name but, for now, stick with what's
on your passport!
Book
your seats early. Many airlines won't allow seats to be assigned
in the final days leading up to a flight. Make those seat arrangements
plenty early so the two of you can sit together. Didn't get the seats
you wanted? Ask again when you check in at the airport!
