Mediaeval
Baebes BIOGRAPHY Since the bands' inception in 1996, the mingled voices of The Mediaeval Baebes have acted as a vessel through which the poetry of the Middle Ages is reborn. Drawn together through a shared passion for the arts, this London-based, eight-member troupe is comprised of members that are a cultural representation of the globe. Not content to merely revive the sounds of former centuries, the all female group adorn themselves in garb reminiscent of the era they depict in their music, which are designed by one of their sisters in song who has found another creative outlet as the owner of her own fashion line. The Mediaeval Baebes have invoked the spirits of the past in theatrical performances at such diverse venues as London's Royal Albert Hall and several of Europe's most opulent castles and cathedrals to more intimate arenas, including Renaissance and New Age faires. WORLDES BLYSSE Dance with the ghosts of knights and ladies fair as The Mediaeval Baebes cast a seductive spell in their 1999 album, Worldes Blysse. The ballads of ages past performed in Middle English, Latin, medieval German and French are resurrected in this sixteen track CD, and each carefully crafted tune, from the haunting "Love Me Broughte" and "All Turns To Yesterday" to the lilting instrumental "La Volta" bear witness to the fact that love is timeless.
