>Related pages: South Coast inns, South Coast attractions Many feel the South Coast is the hidden jewel of Jamaica, a place just to hang out and feel like a local with few tourists, little hassling, and a true laid-back experience. The heart of the South Coast is the tiny community of Treasure Beach, home to Jake's (below), a small property well-known for its many fashion shoots and well-respected for its community efforts. Here the sea is usually quiet and still, much like the action on the beaches themselves. Outside of Treasure Beach, you'll find attractions scattered through some of the surrounding small communities, quiet fishing villages such as Black River. In the parish of St. Elizabeth, travelers find a bounty of experiences including Lovers' Leap, Bamboo Avenue, YS Falls, and Black River Safari Cruise. In Middle Quarters, peppered shrimp are sold on the side of the road by ladies holding out small plastic bags; escoveitch fish is another popular favorite. Soon the South Coast
will be home to the newest Sandals Resort, the first all-inclusive
on this side of the island.
