Negril's real attractions
are its laid-back atmosphere and its seven mile beach, but you will find
a few other diversions:
Negril Lighthouse
West End Rd.
Admission: tip
This 100-foot lighthouse can be toured. Just stop by the caretaker's cottage
next door and ask to see the lighthouse; the charge is just a tip. Note:
Bring good walking shoes for the climb; the iron steps are extremely steep.
YS Falls, Apple Valley/Appleton,
and Bamboo Avenue Tour
This full-day tour takes travelers through Middle Quarters (be sure to
buy some peppered shrimp from the ladies along the roadside), and to Y.S.
falls. At Apple Valley, travelers can fish; another option is to visit
Appleton Rum Factory for a tour (admission price is not included in the
tour price). Finally the trip winds back through Bamboo Avenue to Shafston
Great House, finishing the day with a cold Jelly Coconut.
Black River boat tour,
Lover's Leap, Treasure Beach tour
This full-day South Coast tour includes a boat ride up the Black River
for a look at crocodiles, a drive to Lover's Leap for a spectacular view,
and on to Treasure Beach.
