Make a Wreath Dotted with Symbols of Your Love

from How to Have A Romantic Holiday

Making a wreath together can not only be fun; it can also turn into a romantic activity as well. Instead of a traditional holiday wreath, consider a wreath dotted with symbols of your life together. You can decorate your holiday wreath with:

o seashells from your vacation
o baby shoes celebrating your newborn
o decorations from your wedding
o tiny figures representing each person in your family or ornaments that represent interests of each person

Directions:

1 14" wreath (a purchased straw or grapevine wreath or a homemade one from juniper, pine, or cedar branches)
Hot glue gun
Hot glue gun sticks
Ribbon
Holiday silk flowers (optional)
Decorative items
Florists’ wire or fine wire
Scissors or wire cutters

Start by arranging your items to see how they’ll look. You don’t want to overcrowd your wreath; you’ll want your decorative items to be the focal point. To give your wreath a holiday spirit, add some holiday ribbon (about 6-10 feet) or silk poinsettias. Wrap the ribbon loosely around the wreath, leaving large empty spaces between each turn.

To secure the ribbon to the wreath, use your hot glue gun to secure the ribbon on the back of the wreath at each point where it touches the back portion of the wreath. Between the points where the ribbon covers the wreath, add your decorative items and/or your holiday flowers. You can secure your decorative items to the wreath with florist’s wire or even transparent fishing line. Your decorative flowers can be hot glued directly onto the wreath.

When you’re finished, you might want to add a bow the center of the wreath, attaching it with florist’s wire hidden beneath the ribbon.
