  Make a Snow Globe Together

from How to Have A Romantic Holiday

Remember the fun of snow globes when you were a child? You shook the globe and watched the sprinkle of snow on a perfect, tiny scene.

Well, it may or may not be snowing outside but you can create your own snow globe featuring the two of you. It takes just a few, inexpensive materials; making the globe will not only be a fun activity to enjoy together but will be something you can treasure in later years as well.

First, decide what scene you’d like to include in the globe. You won’t have much room here: think tiny. You can have little his ‘n hers figurines or opt for plastic miniatures that portray an interest the two of you share: little tennis racquets, bridal bouquets, tiny bicycles, a small (laminated) picture of the two of you, or countless other objects. Look at your local crafts store for these miniatures.

Here’s what you’ll need to assemble your snow globe:

1 small, clean jar (baby food jar, small jelly jar, etc.)
Shell of 1-2 boiled eggs, crushed into fine "snow" pieces or 1 tablespoon white glitter
Mineral oil or glycerin
Glue gun

To make your snow globe, secure your figurines or small items to the bottom of the lid. Allow this to dry. Add eggshell or glitter to jar and fill with mineral oil or with a mixture of distilled water and glycerin. (These mixtures are slightly thicker than water so your snow will "drift" down.) Carefully lower the lid onto the globe and seal with hot glue gun.
