The Destination Wedding Workbook

Get married (again for for the first time!)

from How to Have A Romantic Holiday

The holidays make the perfect time to say "I do" for the first time or once again as a rededication of your love. This holiday activity can take a little pre-planning. Some destinations have waiting periods between the issuance of the marriage license and the performance of the ceremony. Some foreign destinations have "residency periods," the time you must be at the location before the ceremony.

In many destinations, weddings are becoming increasingly easier to arrange, with shorter (or no) residency periods, simplified paperwork, and usually no required blood tests. You’ll also find that many resorts have full-time staff members to simplify paperwork.

Although the paperwork details vary from location to location, in general you’ll need:

o official birth certificate (with a raised seal)
o photo ID
o proof of death, if either of you is widowed
o proof of final divorce, if either of you is divorced

A vow renewal is even simpler to arrange. If you are already legally married to each other, you can set up a vow renewal with just a few calls. You’ll have no paperwork or licensing to worry about...only the planning of an event to reconfirm your love for each other.
