Hiking in the Gatlinburg Region
Gatlinburg has hikes for all activity levels: mild to wild.
From quiet streamside strolls to lung-expanding climbs, you'll find plenty
of options in the countryside surrounding Gatlinburg, especially in the
Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The park itself is home to 850 miles
of trails.
One easy hike is the Sugarlands Trail, a one-mile trail
that starts at the Sugarlands Visitors Center.
Waterfalls are the payoff for many longer hikes. On the
way to Cades Cove, you can detour to hike to Abrams Falls, about a five-mile
hike of moderate difficulty that showcases these beautiful falls.
The National
Park Service website has a good list of hikes and their difficulty.
