Cooter's Place

If you have any Dukes
of Hazzard fans in your family, Cooter's Place is a must-do. The man behind
Cooter's is, well, Cooter himself, actor Ben Jones. Here you'll find a
museum with several cars from the television series as well as plenty
of memorabilia.
You can't miss the General
Lee, the orange Dodge Charger used in the series. It's usually parked
in front of the museum (it does travel to make special appearances.)
For a few dollars, you can have your
photo made inside the General Lee or take a free look at the extensive
collection of memorabilia the show spawned. In the gift shop you'll find
General Lee t-shirts and Cooter's Place souvenirs.
Also, mark your calendar for the annual
DukesFest. This huge gathering of show fans is held in Gatlinburg every
summer (although the 2006 event is planned for the new Cooter's Place
in Nashville) and includes visits by cast members as well as drag racing,
live music, and more.
