Fort Fun and Old Gatlinburg Golf & Games
A sister to Gatlinburg's Camp
Thunder, Fort Fun has its own long list of tempting activities (many
perfect for a rainy day option). Look for go-karts, laser tag, a shooting
gallery, and bumper cars, and gem mining (you'll
buy a bag of rocks seeded with some gemstones then sieve in an outdoor
mining area.)
You'll also find Old Gatlinburg Golf and Games here, home
to two outdoor courses that are rich with Gatlinburg history. The 18-hole
Old Town Square course is surrounded by restored historical cabins and
signage with Gatlinburg trivia.
Look for recreations of the Grist Mill,
the Primitive Baptist Church, Pi Beta Phi settlement school and the Gatlinburg
Jail (complete with the hangman's gallows). Or the two of you can try your skills
on the 18-hole Old Mountain Trail, filled with mountain scenery and signage
that explains more about the region; you'll make your exit from this course
through a "train depot."
For all its historical emphasis, Old Gatlinburg Golf also
has a high tech option: black light golf. This indoor course features
a sunken pirate ship and glowing mermaids...not to mention flourescent
golf balls and putters.
