Christus Gardens

Opened in 1960, Christus Gardens remains one of Gatlinburg's
top attractions and the number one religious attraction in the Eastern
US. The gardens showcase both natural and man-made displays. The enclosed
gardens themselves are a focal point during the spring when they're highlighted
by a crown of thorns bush; behind the building, the Crockett Mountain
provides a colorful backdrop for autumn visitors.
Much
of the attraction are the garden's over 100 life-sized wax figures (right),
however, representing Biblical scenes. Other attractions include the face
of Christ carved in a six-ton block of Carrara marble, a Biblical coin
collection, and an exhibit on precious gems of the Bible.
