Best Time of Year to Visit:

mid-December to mid-April (although in Cancun watch out for spring break crowds in March and April if you don't want to be part of that scene!)

Cheapest Time of Year to Visit:

mid-May to mid-June, September to mid-December (The peak months of hurricane season--September and October--are the very cheapest months for a visit.)

Entry Requirements:

US citizens will need to show a birth certificate and photo ID or a valid passport.

Currency:

The Mexican peso is the official currency but US dollars are widely accepted. Major credit cards are accepted at most stores.

Dress:

Both Cancun and Cozumel and very casual; opt for shorts and t-shirts during the day. Evening dress will vary by restaurant and club; pack some slinky outfits for the nicest Cancun restaurants and clubs and just stick with casual attire for others.
