Hugging the border between the Czech Republic and Germany, this 19th century castle—decorated with persian rugs, crystal chandeliers and Rococo, Old World and Victorian furnishings—is a true fairy tale sanctuary. Lovetripper recently interviewed proprietors Antonio Azevedo and Sylvia Kirby to discover how couples can marry or enjoy a romantic retreat in the presence of the past in the world heritage area of Saxon Switzerland at Chateau Krasna Lipa in the Czech Republic.

What special packages do you offer to couples celebrating a special occasion?

In the upcoming weeks we will be offering: 3-4 day Romantic Weekend Getaways, 5-10 day Honeymoon Packages, Massage and Dinner Package, Oktoberfest Package, Christmas Memories Tour, Winter Wonderland Ski Package,  Easter Getaway package and the pricing will be too hard to resist.

Is it possible for weddings or wedding receptions to be held at the chateau?  If so, could you tell our readers what types of wedding packages are available, and which sites within the bed and breakfast or on the grounds of the estate are available for ceremonies? 
 
We have beautiful French/English style gardens complete with a grand marble fountain, marble gazebo and wrought iron statuary that are perfect for wedding photos or special occasions and garden parties. There is a beautiful traditional church in the main town square which is only 5 minutes from the Chateau. Or if you prefer, we can accommodate outdoor wedding ceremonies on our beautiful grounds as well as indoor receptions and functions. 

We can recommend photographers, wedding planners/designers, chauffeurs, music selections by a disc jockey or live music and special concerts, and we will cater the event complete with the rental of chairs/tables/table linens/china/crystal/cutlery/flowers/limousine ride for your special event.  Our King's Table Dining Room with oversize table and oversize chairs will have guests talking for years to come. 

Our wedding packages are suitable for smaller more intimate wedding functions and we will work with you to make your wedding day one of a kind.

Which guest room in the chateau would you suggest for couples who are on a romantic getaway or on their honeymoon?
 
All of our suites are unique with different furnishings and scenic views that make them special and intimate. The Victorian Suite is stately and has two separate covered terraces.  The Rococo Suite is very elegant and has rich colours.  The Versailles Suite inspires you to go back in time and daydream.  Tony says The Garden Apartment Suite because it is separated by another entrance to the Chateau and the lovers can sneak into the gardens without being seen!  And not to be forgotten our intimate Romantic,Wilderness and Terrace Suites that will keep you close and closer.

What romantic activities are available for couples at the chateau? 
 
Our property is located in a forested area which entices couples to go on nature walks through our gardens and to go hiking in the area.  We also like to promote private concerts and movie nights at the Chateau.  Our lounges have spectacular furnishings with high ceilings and panorama windows.  In one of the main lounges we have a 43-inch flat screen television where you can watch premiere films in high definition and colour.  Or why not try our on site bicycles for sightseeing and exploring the area?

We can arrange for horse coach/sleigh rides around the scenic hills and we can supply art easels for the creative minds out there.

What attractions and activities can you suggest to guests who wish to explore the surrounding area?
 
There are many hiking trails, lakes/streams and ponds for five-star fishing, golfing, skiing (cross country and downhill), horseback riding, cycling, sightseeing of nearby local towns and their many attractions such as Decin Palace and Gardens right on the Labe (Elbe) River, Hrensko largest natural sandstone bridge/canyon, Narodni National Park, many German towns only 10 minutes away because Czech Switzerland is right at the Czech West/East German borders.

The movie Chronicles of Narnia was filmed in Czech Switzerland at Pravcicka Brana (15 minutes from the Chateau) which has a spectacular and awesome natural sandstone bridge/gate and canyon which will draw your breath in.

If you're in the mood for a relaxing massage and a romantic dinner with very good food we recommend that you visit Varnsdorf (only 10 minutes away.)

We are located in Czech Republic (at the Czech West/East German borders) in Czech Saxon Switzerland and the area has been classed as a protected Unesco World Heritage Site - see websites www.ceskesvycarsko.cz and www.pbrana.cz.

We have 8 luxury suites with unique and custom handcarved solid mahogany furniture with a different scenic view in each room and the Chateau is completely surrounded by lots of trees and the natural beauty of the area.

The Chateau is a non-smoking luxury adult only vacation complex where smokers are invited to use our covered terraces and main front entrance and gardens.

We have 5 historic/antique/porcelain ceramic furnaces, colourful stained glass windows, original wood trim, parquet floors and 16 foot high ceilings on the main level.

Krasna Lipa is very close to many attractions including the beautiful Baroque city of Prague which is only a two-hour drive and is well known for it's romantic architecture, castles, shopping, restaurants and sightseeing - Dresden and Meissen Germany are only a 3/4-hour drive with historic churches, buildings and shopping that you won't want to miss.

You will not want to leave us when your trip comes to an end because we will take you back in time and show you the finer things in life that everyone so richly deserves.

Price

Our pricing is from 55 euros to 120 euros per night depending on the suite and whether it's high season or low season and we will discount anyone's stay from the 2nd stay or more per year in the same year.
