The last few years, there has been a real boom in the growth in the number of the limited service properties. Just what are these? They're almost a cross between a hotel and motel. Often with interior corridors (rather than exterior corridors like a motel) but without all the services found in a full-service hotel, these properties offer the brand names of the larger hotels but without the restaurants, spas, concierge service, and other amenities found in the big hotels.

Are these for you? They can be a real budget saver. The question to ask is how much time do you plan to spend at the hotel? If you're just looking for a place to sleep, they can be a great option. Many offer a free continental breakfast spread with coffee, rolls, fruit, and cereal, designed to especially appeal to the business travelers who frequent these hotels.

On the other hand, if you plan to hang out at the hotel a great deal, you'd probably be happier at a full-service hotel which can offer you all the options like room service, multiple restaurants, and more.
