Escorted Tours

Want to pack in a maximum amount of sightseeing with a minimum amount of preplanning? An escorted tour may be for you. These tours have a set itinerary and put the two of you with a group of other travelers. How many other travelers? That depends on the tour company. Some may pack a bus; others will be limited to a handful of travelers with some similar interest, whether that's sea kayaking, Italian cooking, or Egyptian pyramids.

The age and makeup of the group will vary, depending on the tour company and the destination. Expect an older crowd for general tours of Europe, a younger crowd for adventure tours and tours of more off-the-beaten path destinations.
