Departure Tax

When you travel to other countries, you'll usually be charged a "departure tax" upon your departure from that country. That tax is often paid in the cost of your airline ticket so you will not have to come up with additional funds.

In other cases, though, your departure tax will have to be paid by you when you check in at the airline ticket counter. If this is the case, know that departure tax usually must be paid in CASH--no credit cards or checks.

If you have an early morning flight, take this into consideration and don't get caught at the airport without enough cash! Departure tax can be as much as US$30 per person.
