Renaissance Faire Weddings: Eastern US

Renaissance faires and festivals can be a romantic getaway for the two of you--or be a venue for your wedding.

Below you'll find a list of Renaissance faires held in the Eastern US (click here for faires in the Western US and here for faires elsewhere around the world.) We've provided the month these faires typically operate but contact each for this year's specific dates; these may vary.

Many faires offer wedding packages (and, often, handfasting packages as well). For faires that we know offer wedding packages, we have included an * beside each listing.

CONNECTICUT

The Connecticut Renaissance Faire
Date: September - October
Location: Woodstock
Highlights include: a human chess match, bellydancing, musicians

FLORIDA

Hoggetowne Medieval Faire
Location: Gainesville
Date: February
This festival includes a game of human chess, magicians, jousters and jugglers.

Lady of The Lakes Renaissance Faire
Location: Orlando
Date: February
Enjoy a weekend of romance and merriment as knights battle for the hand of a fair maiden.

* Pirates In Paradise
Date: late November-December
Location: Key West, FL
Highlights include: Live out your fantasies of adventure on the high seas with over one hundred historic re-enactors including swashbucklers and mermaids, and be captivated by the music of The Crimson Pirates

Florida Keys Medieval Festival
Location: Lower Sugarloaf Key (near Key West)
Date: January
Watch a battle of wits at a human chess match, then turn your eyes to the brave knights fighting for honor in jousting duals, offered three times daily. Other highlights include an archery competition and the comedy of The Hopeless Romantics.

Kiwanis- Lee County Medieval Faire
Location: Ft. Myers
Date: January
Be dazzled by the spectacle of a royal court procession, jousting, sword fighting, and strolling minstrels. Five stages provide continuous entertainment.

Florida Renaissance Festival

Location: Ft. Lauderdale
Date: February
Currently celebrating its twelfth year, this faire offers twelve stages, swashbucklers, and jousting three times a day.

*Bay Area Renaissance Festival
Date: March - April
Location: Tampa
Celebrating over two dozen years, the Bay Area Renaissance Festival offers a variety of themed weekends including Mid-East Mirage weekend, where you can learn how to perform a seductive belly dance; renew your vows or simply steal away the heart of your beloved in a wooing contest during Chocolate and Romance weekend; don a visor and and join in the festivities during Carnivale weekend.

Gulf Coast Renaissance Faire
Date: March
Location: Pensacola
Enter a fantasy world filled with wizards and fire breathers, and be dazzled by the fighting techniques of SCA demonstrators at the Gulf Coast Renaissance Faire.

The Italian Renaissance Festival
Date: March
Relive the days of Romeo and Juliet at a festival filled with both court dancers and peasant dancers, as well as a lively game of human chess.

GEORGIA

*Georgia Renaissance Festival
Date:mid- April - early June
Location: Fairburn
The Georgia Renaissance Fesival is a magical world unto itself, complete with sword swallowers, acrobats, and Hanlon Lee's Jousting Knights from Hollywood

MARYLAND

Maryland Renaissance Festival
Date: end August- October
Location: Crownsville, MD
Highlights include: join the magic of the Maryland Renaissance Festival, celebrating its 27th season, complete with special weekends, including the Pirate Invasion and Romance Weekend, where couples can renew their vows at a special service

MASSACHUSETTS

King Richard's Faire
Date: end of August- October
Location: Carver
Highlights include: a display of falconry, gypsy and mid-eastern dancing, sword fighting and magicians.

NEW JERSEY

That Medieval Thing
Date: April
Location: Madison
This one day free event offers demonstrations of fencing and archery, a living chessboard competition, and performances of medieval plays.

NEW YORK

New York Renaissance Faire
Date: Aug.-Sept.
Location: Tuxedo
Highlights: 11 main stages with entertainment such as minstrels, jugglers, musicians, magicians and jousting tournaments as well as a full Shakespearean production. Named one of the Top 100 events by American Bus Association.

NORTH CAROLINA

*Carolina Renaissance Festival
Date: weekends October- November
Location: Huntersville
Highlights include: immerse yourself in 16th century life as you attend a jousting tournament and revel in the entertainment provided by magicians, jugglers, and the music of Renaissance festival favorites The Tortuga Twins.

*North Carolina Renaissance Faire
Date: March - April
Location: Raleigh, North Carolina
Join in the merriment at this time capsule of days of yore.

OHIO

* Ohio Renaissance Festival
Date: late August - October
Location: Harveysburg
Highlights include: enjoy swashbuckling at its best with a pirate show complete with 65 ft. pirate ship, and attend weekly themed weekends, including a Romance Weekend and Oktoberfest Weekend.

PENNSYLVANIA

Pennsylvania Renaissance Festival
Date: mid August - October
Location: Lancaster

Fairie Festival
Date: May
Location: Glen Rock
Escape into an enchanted world where celtic music fills the air (Clann an Drumma is one of the many scheduled acts) and fairies rejoice at the arrival of spring with a maypole dance. Held at Spoutwood Farm, this festival is enjoying its 13th season.

TENNESSEE

Tennessee Renaissance Festival
Date: May
Location: Arrington- Triune
Castle Gwynn overlooks the festivities and gives an air of medieval authenticity to the Tennessee Renaissance Festival, now in its 18th year. Tour the castle, which is filled with ancient weapons of battle, then enjoy archery competitions, period dancing, birds of prey, and the musical stylings of Owain Phyfe.

VERMONT

* The Vermont Renaissance Festival
Date: weekends from late June through mid-July
Location: Bellows Falls, VT
Celebrate your love with a mid-summer ceremony at The Vermont Renaissance Festival, which offers three
wedding packages, all of which include tickets for guests, sparkling cider to toast your union and participation in a royal procession. A wedding coordinator is on hand to help with details.
