Asking Questions About Your Villa Honeymoon continued
from Honey, We're Home: Planning
a Caribbean Villa Honeymoon The driving distance to attractions or activities is just
one topic honeymooners should address before booking. The most important
question to ask is if the reservations agent has personally seen and inspected
the villa, notes Jan Gordon, spokesperson for Wimco,
a villa agency with 680 properties throughout the Caribbean. You
only get one chance to get the honeymoon right, so make sure that the
person advising you has inspected the villa and knows personally that
it is private from other homes, that it has the right size beds, and that
the view is romantic. Gordon also recommends that honeymooners ask
if a local management company will meet couples at the airport, orient
you to the villa, and cover off-hour maintenance emergencies. Another top question: chef and maid service. Some villas
offer cleaning before your arrival but additional maid visits come at
a surcharge; at other properties, you may have daily maid service. And
some villas, including many of the 1230 villas in Jamaica, include the
talents of a private chef.
Our villa had a private chef, a bartender, and maid service, says newlywed Susan Grella of Long Island. Susan and new husband John honeymooned at Moon Dance Villas along the seven mile beach of Negril, Jamaica. The staff was wonderful. They observed the guests and got a good feel for when you wanted to eat. If you requested something specific, they prepared it. Other villas offer the option of provisioning your pantry with all your favorites for your stay or arranging for a la carte chef service to prepare an elegant meal right in your villas kitchen.
