Aruba Loses Natural Bridge

The Natural Bridge, a symbol of Aruba like the divi-divi tree, has been lost to Mother Nature. This bridge was carved by the tumultuous sea waves that continue to crash on the rocks and spray visitors.

If you've ever visited Aruba, you know that this site was a top tourist attraction, a cool stop after a dusty jeep ride through the cunucu or countryside. Visitors could walk across the natural bridge or play in the surf below.

Sadly, on September 2, 2005, the 100-foot-long bridge collapsed before dawn.

Aruba does have several smaller natural bridges, including one nearby the fallen icon.
