The Inn at Robert's Grove, Belize
With its natural beauty and easy access from the US, Belize makes a natural destination for romantic travelers and honeymooners. Recently Lovetripper interviewed the owners of The Inn at Robert's Grove, a romantic hideaway in Belize, about their special romantic resort:
What sets The Inn at Robert's Grove apart and makes it a special destination for travelers?
The Inn at Robert's Grove, a top belize resort, is situated on the white sand beach of the Placencia Peninsula, an 18-mile stretch of land connected to the mainland, which is flanked on one side by the Caribbean Sea and on the other, the Placencia Lagoon. This makes it perfectly suited for experiencing all of Belize's top attractions -- the Reef, Rainforest and Maya Ruins.
What aspects of The Inn at Robert's Grove are especially appealing to romantic travelers?
Because Robert's Grove is in a remote part of the country, it still has the feeling of being a tropical paradise, where the jungle meets the sea. It's the ideal location for relaxing and being "with each other," but at the same time affording couples the opportunity for having an active, adventure filled vacation. The 22-acre resort combines luxury -- 52 beautiful air-conditioned seaside accommodations and fine dining (in two restaurants), three pools, rooftop Jacuzzis, Sea Spa and a host of beach amenities -- with a complete tour operation that includes a PADI Dive Center, Fly Fishing and day trips to Belize's vast tropical Rainforest and Maya Ruin sites. The Inn also owns two privately-owned cayes, which are ideal for a "Swept Away" island experience. Robert Grove also offers special honeymoon vacation packages.
Can you describe the wedding package and how The Inn at Robert's Grove can help couples create the wedding of their dreams? Is it easy for couples to marry in Belize?
Having a Belize Wedding is easy -- especially at Robert's Grove, since we have an on-property wedding coordinator who takes care of everything, including getting your marriage license (you must be in the country three days before you can apply; but it only takes one day to process) .
We have two packages -- the "Wedding Ceremony Package" which includes all administration, government taxes and handling fees, marriage license fee, expense for Minister or JP to perform the ceremony; professional photographer; flowers; wedding cake and champagne.
The eight-night "Wedding/Honeymoon Package" includes all of the above, plus roundtrip domestic flights between Belize City and Placencia; land transfers between Placencia Airstrip and the resort; accommodations in a one-bedroom Air-Conditioned Oceanfront One-Bedroom Deluxe Suite; all meals; welcome cocktail drink; romantic candlelight Wedding Dinner on your private suite terrace; champagne and wedding cake after the ceremony; bride's manicure, pedicure and hair styling; massage for two; and three adventure trips -- Snorkeling, Monkey River tour and Maya Ruin and Cave Swimming Excursion. Additionally, couples are welcome to enjoy, on a complimentary basis, the Inn's three pools, Tennis court, Gym Jacuzzis, Canoes, Kayaks, Windsurfers, Hobie Cats, Pedal Boats and Bicycles.
For couples who wish to have larger weddings (it is even possible to rent out the entire 52-room resort), our wedding coordinator will assist with customized wedding plans, reception and catering by the resort's chef. Many couples not only plan lovely receptions at the hotel, but they have great snorkeling and dive parties out at one of our privately owned islands.
We're seeing a growing demand for adventure travel by honeymooners. What activities and nearby attractions will especially appeal to active honeymooners?
As indicated above, our award-winning belize hotel operates all of its own tours and excursions. We have the finest PADI Dive & Snorkel Shop in southern Belize (and the largest dive boat -- a 42- foot PRO), Fly Fishing Center with the best guides in the area, and daily trips to the Maya Ruins, Cockscomb Jaguar Preserve, kayaking trips down the Stann Creek River, Cave Swimming, River Tubing and Horseback Riding at a nearby ranch. Our privately owned islands, which are simple and a bit rustic (not anywhere as luxurious as the Inn) are also very popular for overnight trips
In talking with your guests, what's most surprising to first-time visitors about a Belize vacation?
That English is the first language of Belizeans and how nice and friendly Belizeans are. They don't have the attitude found in many other Caribbean destinations.
