Who: Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Veronica Varekova and Phoenix Coyotes' hockey player Petr Nedved

When: July 2004

Where: Vows were exchanged inside St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague.

The Proposal: Stretched out languidly over the river Vltava, the historic Charles Bridge has silently witnessed the lives of Prague's citizens since the 12th century. On a June evening as the couple, who had been celebrating the model's birthday, walked over the architectural landmark, the hockey player knelt on one knee, presenting his love with a 3.9-carat canary yellow diamond engagement ring.

The Ceremony: For the bride and groom, there was no place like home to begin a new life together, so the Czech natives chose St. Vitus Cathedral, the coronation site for centuries of Czech royals, to declare their love in a Roman Catholic ceremony beheld by "Kate and Leopold" star Liev Schreiber and fellow hockey player Martin Rucinsky.

The Dress: Following in the footsteps of such celebrity brides as Melania Knauss Trump, Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Simpson, the six-foot-tall Sports Illustrated beauty chose to walk down the aisle in a Vera Wang creation. Wearing a curve-hugging white gown with a sweetheart neckline and dramatic fishtail hem, the bride's only accessories were a pair of high-heeled Sergio Rossi shoes. A small nosegay of pale yellow roses bound together with ribon and ivy provided a touch of color to the wedding attire. The groom was equally stylish in a dove grey suit purchased from Loro Piana.

The Reception: A white Rolls Royce whisked the newlyweds from the house of worship to a reception at Hergetova Cihelna (The Brick House Restaurant), where the couple was greeted by the crash of a dinner plate on the floor. Tradition states that the bride and groom must gather the broken shards, thereby ensuring that the couple will tackle all of life's obstacles together. A quartet provided background music as guests dined on halibut, veal medallions and a triple-layered chocolate cake embellished with blush pink icing and scattered with sugar rose petals, which mirrored the natural blossoms sprinkled over the restaurant's floor. As night fell, the bride and groom walked out on to the restaurant's terrace to see a display of fireworks in their honor, which reflected on the site where the groom had proposed-- the Charles Bridge and Vltava River which flowed serenely below.
