Who: Trick
Pony lead singer Heidi Newfield and sports agent Bill Johnson
When: June 6, 2004
Where: The nuptials took place on the
beach in Destin, Florida.
The ceremony: Heidi Newfield may belt out her relief
that she's not"The Bride" in Trick Pony's 2004 hit
single, but the frontwoman of the country group was singing
a different tune at her seaside wedding to sports agent Bill
Johnson. Two hunded guests, including music icon Mel Tillis
and football giants Rod Coleman, Brian Urlacher and Keith Brooking
watched as the bride, clutching a handkerchief passed down in
the family of her new mother-in-law, pledged her eternal devotion
in the city where she first met her soul mate.
The dress: Every bride's worst nightmare became a reality
when the singer's dream gown failed to arrive at the proper
destination. A call to the designer, couturier Anne Barge, remedied
the situation and an identical garment-- a white, v-necked silk
crepe confection garnished with elaborate beading along the
bodice was sent to the wedding location. The bride's tresses,
worn in a loose chignon, held a long veil, and antique drop
earrings completed the ensemble. In lieu of bridesmaids the
entertainer chose her bandmates, Ira Dean and Keith Burns, to
stand by her side.
Specials touches: In a ceremony laced with sentiment,
the bride place a single yellow rose in the chair reserved for
her mother, who had recently passed away.
