Who: Star
Jones, co-host of "The View" and banker Al Reynolds When: November
13, 2004 Where: St.
Bartholomew's Church in New York City The Proposal:
The TV viewing audience was able to share in Star's excitement
from the very beginning, as basketball enthusiasts watching
the NBA All-Star Game at The Staples Center in Los Angeles witnessed
Star's future husband get down on one knee and propose with
a five carat diamond ring.
The Bridal Showers: Known for her top-drawer tastes, the bride registered at every shopper's mecca, Tiffany & Co., for wedding gifts which included a sterling silver ice cream scoop valued at almost $200, a decorative bowl worth $450, and a brass carriage clock with a price tag of well over $600. Star opened her
array of robin's egg blue Tiffany boxes at not one but two bridal
showers-- one held at the Beverly Hills mansion of actor Samuel
L. Jackson, the other on the East Coast, where guests dined
on lobster salad and grilled beef tenderloin aboard The Queen
Mary II. Always up for a party, a bridal luncheon for the TV
hostess was held the day prior to the nuptials in the eveningwear
department of Saks Fifth Avenue, where friends and family toasted
the bride-to-be with Veuve Clicquot champagne. The Ceremony: A year to the day after she first laid eyes on the man she would marry, the prominent lawyer and TV personality turned her dream into reality as she made a grand entrance at St. Bartholomew's Church in a ceremony envisioned down to the last detail. Four hundred and fifty guests, including talk show hostess Kelly Ripa, Sex and The City's Kim Cattrall, Senator Hillary Clinton and the bride's cohorts on The View witnessed the joyful service, which concluded with a rendition of the sentimental classic "The Best Is Yet To Come"-- a portent of the couple's future as man and wife. The Dress: The bride chose designer Reem Acra (who attended the festivities) to concoct a body-conscious white silk taffeta strapless gown replete with a twenty-seven-foot train which was carried by seven attendants. A sheer veil over her upswept hairdo, topped with a diamond headband, completed the look. The bridesmaids, including Holly Robinson Peete, Lela Rochon, Natalie Cole and Vivica A. Fox, were the quintessence of sophistication in champagne-colored satin gowns and white fur wraps from Lazaro Bridal. While the bridesmaids
carried small nosegays composed of pastel roses, the bride opted
for a cascading bouquet. The groom wore a black tuxedo and white
bow tie from Sarno and Son. The Reception: As the voice of singer Patti LaBelle wafted through The Waldorf-Astoria's two ballrooms rented for the occasion, the sparkle of chandeliers danced amidst a sea of white orchids, roses and calla lilies which adorned ten foot tall urns.
