Sophie Ellis Bextor Weds in Umbria Who: British
pop sensation Sophie Ellis Bextor and musician Richard Jones When: June
25, 2005 Where: The
couple said "I do" at Palazzo Terranova in Umbria. The Proposal:
Continuing a time-honored tradition, the broom-to-be got down
on bended knee to ask for his intended's hand in marriage during
a vacation in Barcelona in November 2004. The Ceremony: Although known for her flamboyant stage presence when performing such dance hits as "Murder On The Dancefloor," the bride was determined to have an intimate ceremony away from the prying eyes of the paparazzi, and on a mid-summer day the singer got her wish as she pledged her love to her musician beau in a civil ceremony which went undetected by the media until weeks after the event. The couple chose the Palazzo Terranova, which television viewers may recognize as a venue highlighted on the HGTV program "Debbie Travis' Painted House." Perched on a sun-drenched
hilltop, the 18th century villa offers a spa, cooking lessons,
and nine rooms and three suites, each painted in richly saturated
colors. The Dress: A fingertip-length veil draped over the bride's sleek chignon
and brushed against the exposed heart-shaped tattoo on her upper
arm as she stated her vows in a strapless white gown with a
flared skirt created by London-based designer Sarah Owen, whose
bridal attire has been featured in such British magazines as
"Cosmopolitan Bride" and "You and Your Wedding." The Honeymoon: After the ceremony, which had been set back in order that their baby boy would be old enough to join in the festivities, the proud parents of 14-month old Sonny embarked on on a honeymoon in southern Italy with their toddler in tow.
