Who: actress/singer Liza Minnelli and David Gest

When: March 16, 2002

Where: The Marble Collegiate Church in New York City

The Ceremony: The fourth walk down the aisle for Judy Garland's daughter provided a surreal spectacle for
the 850 invited to the evening ceremony at Marble Collegiate Church. Witnesses ranging from Hollywood legends Kirk Douglas and Lauren Bacall to Baywatch actor David Hasselhoff sat in the mahogany pews, watching as thirteen bridesmaids dressed in black ("Psycho" star Janet Leigh, reporter Cynthia McFadden and pop singer Mya among the throng), two matrons of honor (one being The Queen of Hollywood, Elizabeth Taylor), and best men Tito and Michael Jackson paraded to the altar before the bride. During the nondenominational ceremony the betrothed stood beneath a cascade of white blossoms.

The Dress: Designer Bob Mackie's signature look was evident in the bride's gown, an off the shoulder,
off-white concoction festooned with intricate beadwork, crystals and pearls. Making the dress the main focal piont, Liza's jewelry consisted of a diamond cross pendant on a simple gold chain and drop earrings encrusted with small diamonds. The bride's 3.5- carat engagement ring sparkled as she held a small bouquet of pale yellow roses, a contrast to the deep red rose nosegays carried by her many bridesmaids.

The Reception: At the Regent Wall Street Hotel the consummate entertainer conjured up the spirit of her Cabaret character Sally Bowles with a low cut, red- spangled dress and red ostrich feather coat created by Bob Mackie. Guests dined on roasted halibut and porcini-crusted beef before tasting the twelve-layer wedding cake-- a culinary masterpiece of chocolate cream and black and white frosting which was adorned with red, pink and purple roses. Over six feet in height, it was decided that the traditional bride and groom wedding topper should be displayed on the lowest layer. To further satisfy the guests collective sweet tooth, all attendees were presented with a red, heart-shaped box of See's chocolates as the festivities drew to a close.
