The Ceremony: Having lived under the watchful eye of the paparazzi for years, "The Lord of The Rings" star felt the need for privacy on her wedding day. Unable to synchronize her relative's busy schedules, the lovebirds flew to the Caribbean island of Barbados alone, reciting their vows at a private villa. The couple relived the joy of that day one month later in front of family and frineds at a reception held at the popular New York eatery Pastis, famous for serving Provencal fare. The guest list at the fete read like a roster of rock royalty and included the bride's two fathers, Steven Tyler and Todd Rundgren, as well as sister Mia Tyler, David Bowie and Iman, and Kate Hudson and husband Chris Robinson.

The Dress: Raised in the realm of rock and roll, it was not surprising that the bride chose an Alexander McQueen creation in which to celebrate her marriage. Known for darkly romantic dresses with a theatrical edge (actress Kate Winslet was so impressed with the fashion icon's work that she donned his designs both at The Academy Awards the year that "Titanic" captured the heart of the nation, and at her wedding to James Threapleton), the bride commissioned an ethereal white gown with an empire waist, a band of gold brocade below the bustline, and sheer, elbow-length sleeves. For a splash of color, the actress wore open-toed pink shoes, the hue matching the groom's tie.
