were exchanged in a cozy, stone Angelican house of worship in
Gustavia, St. Bart's. The Ceremony:
The island of St. Barthelemy had long been a witness to
the love story between the model and the fashion icon. Serving
as a romantic retreat when their feelings for each other began
to blossom, the tropical paradise was also chosen by the groom
when he asked his intended for her hand in marriage. Although
the couple had made their union official in front of a judge
in New York, the isle called them back for a more formal celebration
of their love, and on a rain-drenched December evening the bride's
mother walked her daughter past wooden pews decorated with clusters
of ivy and white bows to a simple altar where the groom stood
along with his brother, Reverend Run (of the group Run DMC),
who blessed their bond in his first official ceremony as a man
of the cloth. The Dress: In stark contrast to the grey Dior ensemble the bride wore when
she said "I do" in a simple New York civil ceremony,
for the Caribbean nuptials the flamboyant fashionista donned
Jimmy Choo shoes and a white, body-hugging Susan Lazar creation
fashioned of matte jersey. On her upswept hairdo a delicate
diamond tiara was fastened to a cathedral-length chiffon veil
which emphasized the model's sleek, six-foot frame. Kimora's
love of couture clothing was also displayed during the reception,
when the bride changed into a Herve Leger design. Several catwalk
queens, including Tyra Banks and Veronica Webb, supported their
friend as bridesmaids and walked down the aisle in oyster-colored
gowns with spaghetti straps and empire waists by Susan Lazar.
For embellishments, a dainty necklace and pair of diamond earrings
provided by Baby Phat, the bride's jewelry line, were chosen.
The groom opted
for more casual apparel-- a long-sleeve white shirt, a black
sweater vest and beige trousers, furnished by the fashion designer's
own Phat Farm clothing line. The Reception:
On a yacht christened Princess Tanya, luminaries the likes of
Martha Stewart and Jon Bon Jovi danced amid twinkle lights and
nibbled on a five-tier wedding cake festooned with sugar roses.
The party continued each night for the next ten days before
the newlyweds embarked on a honeymoon at an exclusive St. Maarten
