Who: "Life and Style" co-host / Baby Phat founder Kimora Lee and Phat Farm proprietor Russell Simmons

When: December 20, 1998

Where: Vows were exchanged in a cozy, stone Angelican house of worship in Gustavia, St. Bart's.

The Ceremony: The island of St. Barthelemy had long been a witness to the love story between the model and the fashion icon. Serving as a romantic retreat when their feelings for each other began to blossom, the tropical paradise was also chosen by the groom when he asked his intended for her hand in marriage. Although the couple had made their union official in front of a judge in New York, the isle called them back for a more formal celebration of their love, and on a rain-drenched December evening the bride's mother walked her daughter past wooden pews decorated with clusters of ivy and white bows to a simple altar where the groom stood along with his brother, Reverend Run (of the group Run DMC), who blessed their bond in his first official ceremony as a man of the cloth.

The Dress: In stark contrast to the grey Dior ensemble the bride wore when she said "I do" in a simple New York civil ceremony, for the Caribbean nuptials the flamboyant fashionista donned Jimmy Choo shoes and a white, body-hugging Susan Lazar creation fashioned of matte jersey. On her upswept hairdo a delicate diamond tiara was fastened to a cathedral-length chiffon veil which emphasized the model's sleek, six-foot frame. Kimora's love of couture clothing was also displayed during the reception, when the bride changed into a Herve Leger design.

Several catwalk queens, including Tyra Banks and Veronica Webb, supported their friend as bridesmaids and walked down the aisle in oyster-colored gowns with spaghetti straps and empire waists by Susan Lazar. For embellishments, a dainty necklace and pair of diamond earrings provided by Baby Phat, the bride's jewelry line, were chosen.

The groom opted for more casual apparel-- a long-sleeve white shirt, a black sweater vest and beige trousers, furnished by the fashion designer's own Phat Farm clothing line.

The Reception: On a yacht christened Princess Tanya, luminaries the likes of Martha Stewart and Jon Bon Jovi danced amid twinkle lights and nibbled on a five-tier wedding cake festooned with sugar roses. The party continued each night for the next ten days before the newlyweds embarked on a honeymoon at an exclusive St. Maarten spa.
