couple pledged their love in the ballroom of the Ritz Carlton
Grande Lakes Hotel in Orlando, Florida. Pre-wedding Festivities:
The luxury hotel's 584 guestrooms accommodated all attendees
of the three day celebration of love preceeding the nuptials.
A comedy show, a day of pampering for the women in the hotel's
40,000 sq. ft. spa and a round of golf at the 18-hole championship
golf course for the men were among the scheduled activities. The Ceremony:
As 2004 drew to a close the resident heartthrob of the Boston
Red Sox looked to the year to come as a new beginning, a feeling
symbolized by Brooks & Dunn's "Brand New Man,"
the centerfielder's choice of processional music as he made
his way to the altar to await the arrival of his bride, who
entered the hotel's chandelier-lit ballroom to Lauryn Hill's
"Can't Take My Eyes Off of You." One hundred and seventy-five
guests, including AC/DC's frontman Brian Johnson and Red Sox
first baseman Doug Mientkiewicz, bore witness as the groom placed
a wedding band on his loved one's finger which would accompany
an eight-carat, canary yellow engagement ring. At the conclusion
of the thirty minute service, gently cascading artificial snow
fell down upon the newly betrothed couple like a baptism as
they took their first walk together up the aisle as husband
and wife. The Dress:
Serving as flower girl and ring bearer, the groom's children
from a previous union made their way to the altar ahead of the
bride, who made a dramatic entrance in a strapless ivory Vera
Wang gown with a chapel-length train sweeping behind her.
A diaphanous veil accented with a lace rose design border completed
the look. Corresponding with
the winter theme of the occasion, the groom donned a silver
