Jenny McCarthy Wedding at Beverly Hills Hotel

Who: actress Jenny McCarthy and director John Asher

When: September 11, 1999

Where: Vows were exchanged in the Crystal Gardens at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

The Ceremony: Two angelic flower girls, their flame-red hair styled in pigtails, sprinkled petals from baskets adorned with blue and white ribbons as they made their way down the aisle, six bridemaids following close behind. The bride clutched a cluster of white roses as she walked past two hundred witnesses toward her intended, who stood beneath a square arbor embellished with roses which matched her bridal bouquet. While musicians played the refined strains of classical music upon her entrance, when the newly-dubbed Mr. and Mrs. Asher made their way back up the pale blue carpeted aisle, they strolled to a joyful rendition of the "I Love Lucy" theme.

The Dress: The spirits of Hollywood's most luminous stars seem to linger at the Beverly Hills Hotel, from Latin lover Rudolph Valentino to Clark Gable and Carole Lombard, who chose the palm-laden locale for their clandestine trysts before becoming husband and wife. In a tribute to Old Hollywood glamour LA-based designer David Cardona, who today runs the Cerruti fashion empire, concocted a bias-cut gown worthy of a silver screen goddess, complete with a plunging scooped neckline revealing ample decolletage, and white opera-length gloves to add a touch of drama. To complete the look, a diaphanous veil was attached to the bride's tossled blonde curls, which were worn in an upswept fashion and embellished with a dainty headpiece.

Carrying bouqets composed of white roses, the bridesmaids walked down the aisle in full-length gowns of a blue hue which mirrored the California sky. Flower girls donned sleeveless white frocks, their white shoes peeking out from beneath full-length skirts.

The Reception: The theme from "I Love Lucy" still echoing in their heads, guests convened in the Crystal Ballroom, which was decorated in a decor reminiscent of a nightclub from yesteryear that would make Lucy's bandleader husband Ricky Ricardo feel right at home. Before attendees, which included Suzanne Somers, Brooke Shields and Paula Abdul, dined on such succulent fare as lobster consomme with ravioli, rib-eye steak garnished with Madeira porcini sauce and slices of a five-tier, white chocolate buttercream wedding cake, the groom grabbed the spotlight to croon "We Are In Love" to his bride.
