Debra Messing and
Daniel Zelman's Wedding
Who: :"Will and Grace" star Debra Messing and screenwriter
Daniel Zelman
When: September 3, 2000
Where: The outdoor ceremony was held at a private estate
near Santa Barbara
The Ceremony: The Pacific Ocean in the distance provided
the perfect backdrop as the bride made her entrance carrying
long-stemmed calla lilies, a flower chosen as much for
the fact that they would not induce an allergic reaction from
the bride as for their esthetic appeal. The nuptials of the
long-term lovebirds, who met years ago as New York University
students, were witnessed by one hundred and fifty guests, including
several of the comedienne's "Will and Grace" co-stars
and Camryn Manheim from "The Practice".
The Dress: No stranger to Hollywood's "Best Dressed"
lists, the actress turned to the designer of the stars, Vera
Wang, to create a stream-lined white wedding gown which showcased
the bride's refined sense of style. The groom's suit of choice
came from the Hugo Boss line.
The Ring: The couple's love of classic elegance was
reflected in the choice of both the 1950's bezel set
engagement ring and the antique diamond and platinum wedding
ring. Continuing this ode to the past, the groom's gift to his
new wife was a one hundred year old sapphire ring.
The Reception: Newlywed Messing and her "Will and
Grace" colleague Sean Hayes entertained the guests with
an impromptu version of Britney Spears' "Oops!... I Did
It Again" before the bride and groom left the festivities
to spend their first night as husband and wife at Santa Barbara's
Bacara Resort.
