The New
York Wedding of Melissa Rivers & John Endicott
The Cake: The
bride's multi-layer carrot cake, embellished with scrolls and
sugar flowers, was only one in a long line of celebrity wedding
cakes created by Sylvia Weinstock, who counts Donald Trump, Mariah
Carey, Charlie Sheen and Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown among
her roster of clients. The confectionary queen offers cake decorating
tips in her book, "Sweet Celebrations".
The Flowers: The
Terrace Room of The Plaza Hotel was a sea of blooms which dangled
from a multitude of birch trees and covered the altar, all courtesy
of Preston Bailey, event designer extraordinaire. The floral artist,
who has created botanical masterpieces for the weddings of both
Liza Minnelli and Matt Lauer, has revealed some of the tricks
of his trade in two books-- "Preston Bailey's Design for
Entertaining" and "Preston Bailey's Fantasy Weddings".
Mother of the bride
gown: American design Randolph Duke has long been a red carpet
staple, with such Hollywood notables as Kim Basinger and Hilary
Swank (who wore a bronze-colored creation the night she won the
Oscar for her role in "Boys Don't Cry") among his clientele.
Randolph Duke designs, along with his line of accessories and
perfume, often appear on QVC and The Home Shopping Network. The Music:
The Hank Lane Orchestra had toes tapping at Melissa's opulent
reception. Providing melodies for New York's most prestigious
events for over a quarter of a century, celebrities such as Eddie
Murphy, Billy Baldwin and fashion designer Vera Wang danced to
Hank Lane Orchestra tunes at their weddings.
Place-card holders:
Dainty heart-shaped frames from the Joan Rivers collection served
as unique place-card holders at the reception. Joan Rivers products,
which range from jewelry to skin care, can be found on QVC. |
