Jools
Holland Weds in England
Who: musician
Jools Holland, formerly of the '80's band Squeeze, and sculptor
Christabel McEwen
When: August
30, 2005
Where: The
couple, who have been together for fifteen years, pledged their
eternal love inside St. James Church in Cooling, Kent, England.
The Ceremony: While rumored guests Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles
were not in attendance, a cavalcade of stars from the worlds
of music, movies and television were among the 200 guests to
arrive at St. James Church to witness the ceremony. The guest
list included Ringo Starr and '60's pop star Lulu, Robbie Coltrane
(better known to Harry Potter fans as Hagrid) and comedians
familiar to PBS viewers, such as "The Vicar of Dibley"
star Dawn French, Lenny Henry of "Chef!" and Jennifer
Saunders from "Absolutely Fabulous." As the 13th century
house of worship, which was immortalized in the pages of the
Charles Dickens classic "Great Expectations," is no
longer in use, the bride and groom were required to obtain a
special licence to hold their wedding in the venue of their
dreams.
The Dress: A
garland of blossoms lightly rested on the heads of two small
flower girls, who walked down the aisle of the church in ballerina-length
dresses ahead of the bride and groom's 14 year old daughter,
acting as the maid of honor. The congregation rose when the
bride entered, wearing a midi length, off-white dress with short
illusion sleeves and gold embroidery embellishments. A bouquet
of cream-colored roses harmonized with the cluster of flowers
in the bride's hair, to which an elbow-length veil was attached.
The groom looked dapper in a classic black top hat and tails.
The Reception:
Guests later converged at Cooling Castle for the reception.
