Its trumpet raised as though to herald the news, the gilded angel statue which guards the Princess Theatre from on high was a silent witness to the arrival of Hollywood royalty as photographers, eager to capture images of Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes and their daughter, flocked to a limousine which stopped at the entrance to the Melbourne landmark. Unfazed by all the fuss, a sleepy-eyed Suri smiled for the cameras as the Cruise clan made their way inside the 19th century opera house, which rang out with the sounds of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons during a performance of Jersey Boys.Currently in Australia for her role in the upcoming horror flick Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, Katie Holmes may have found the haunted history of The Princess Theatre of interest as the lights dimmed for the musical production. Legend states that the spirit of an actor whose heart gave way as the curtain fell on a performance of Faust not only lingered long enough to take a bow as the audience applauded on that evening in 1888, but continues to enjoy the entertainment on stage to this day.
After the show, the Tinseltown threesome returned to the Crown Towers Hotel, which the Daily Mail reports will be the family's home away from home for the movie's 12-week shooting schedule.
