Currently in the midst of celebrating 60 years as sovereign, on March 23, 2012 Queen Elizabeth took a moment to congratulate a couple celebrating their first moments as husband and wife.
A royal romantic who will mark a 65th wedding anniversary with Prince Philip on November 20th, the queen– who, along with the Duke of Edinburgh, was touring the area as part of her Diamond Jubilee activities– paid a visit to Manchester Town Hall to offer best wishes to newlyweds John Canning and his bride Frances, who had written a wedding invitation to the queen upon hearing that she would be in Manchester Town Hall on the day of their I do’s.
The happy couple confided to the British newspaper The Sun: “If we can have half as many happy days together as the Queen and Prince Philip then we will be blessed.”
