As we say so long to 2011, Lovetripper takes a last glance at the gowns worn by marrying members of the glitterati over the past year. At number nine in our ceremony silhouette showdown we have Lily Allen, a chart-topper who looked to the past to inspire her walk down the aisle toward a future with the man she loves, Sam Cooper:
Lily Allen’s nostalgic nuptial number gave wedding watchers something to “Smile” about this year. Wearing a pair of Rupert Sanderson heels, the singer walked down the aisle of St. James the Great Church in Cranham, Gloucestershire, England in wedding wear by French designer Delphine Manivet.
Recalling the vintage visions of 1920s brides, the “I do” design featured lace created in Calais, The Telegraph reported, and an accompanying veil accented with fabric flower embellishments to frame the bride’s face as she stood at the altar while the hymn “Jerusalem” echoed throughout the house of worship.
Although unseen by many of the fans who had gathered outside the church to witness the happy occasion, the bride had added a personal touch to her ensemble– tiny puppet bride and groom cricket players to represent the happy couple’s love of the sport.
