After 28 years together, music icon Gene Simmons has exchanged vows with the woman who he wants to rock and roll all night and party every day with for the rest of his life– Shannon Tweed.
On the evening of October 1, 2011, 400 family members and friends (including Bill Maher, Hugh Hefner and the groom’s bandmates)– who had received invitations emblazoned with a caricature of the Simmons family as drawn by the couple’s son Nick– gathered on the crystal lawn at the Beverly Hills Hotel to witness a wedding that struck just the right romantic chord.
According to People magazine, the bride walked down the aisle in an ivory Priscilla of Boston creation at the start of a ceremony which saw the reality personalities pledge their love with self-penned vows before Simmons slipped a wedding band on the bride’s finger to accompany her 24-carat engagement ring.
Following the nuptials, the newlyweds joined their guests at a reception, where the rock ‘n roll romantics swayed to the Etta James classic “At Last” as sung by the bride’s maid of honor– the happy couple’s daughter, Sophie.
Before the new season of Gene Simmons’ Family Jewels begins October 4, 2011 on A&E (with the wedding to air on the 18th), fans can share in the pair’s special day by donating to charitable organizations which are close to the bride and groom’s heart, including Kiva, Pink Lotus Breast Center or the Saskatoon SPCA, as requested by the couple in lieu of gifts, or they can purchase a marital memory at Personalizationmall.com, which is selling souvenirs commemorating the soul mate’s ceremony.
Entertainment Tonight viewers were virtual guests as bride-to-be Shannon Tweed tried on a gallery of gowns shortly before the “I do” date:
