He may have portrayed Pippin in the cinematic retelling of JRR Tolkien’s trilogy, but on December 29, 2010 Billy Boyd was the Lord of the Ring– wedding ring, that is.
His Hobbit friends (actors Elijah Wood and Dominic Monaghan) on hand to witness the happy occasion, the Glasgow-born actor said “I do” to Ali McKinnon– his love since 2002– at Oran Mor, located in his home town.
According to the venue’s web site, Oran Mor translates as “great melody of life” or “big song”– an apt choice for the actor, who is also a member of the band, Beecake. No doubt the Scottish star had a song in his heart as he pledged his devotion in the presence of 30 friends and family members, including the couple’s four-year-old son, Jack William Boyd.
Following the intimate I do’s, the newlyweds enjoyed their first hours together as husband and wife with 160 guests at a reception, the Scottish Herald reports.
