New Year’s Eve marked the start of a new life together as husband and wife for Australian rules footballer Chris Judd and Rebecca Twigley, who welcomed 220 friends and family members to their early evening wedding at Albert Park Lake’s Carousel.
Peering from behind the diaphanous fabric of her veil, as she emerged from the BMW which bore her to the venue the bride could see the flock of photographers who snapped shots of her wedding wear– a gown inspired by New York’s Chrysler Building, which featured a bead-embellished bodice which flowed into a deconstructed skirt. Taking 300 hours to create, the stunning silhouette was the vision of Jacob Luppino and Anthony Pittorino of J’Aton, who also designed the ethereal dove gray gowns donned by the bridesmaids.
According to the Herald Sun, a sea of sports stars, including Andrew Embly, Eddie Betts, Marc Murphy and Darren Glass, were among the throng to witness the half-hour ceremony in which the bride received a wedding band from Paul Bram Diamonds.
Having already embarked on a pre- I do Italian honeymoon in October 2010, the newlyweds plan to relive the romance of Noosa– where the two became betrothed– shortly after the wedding. At midnight, however, the happy couple still celebrated at their reception as fireworks announced the arrival of 2011 and a new chapter in the lives of Chris Judd and Rebecca Twigley.
