Drummer Ben Gillies has provided the backbeat for such Silverchair hits as “Tomorrow” and “Straight Line,” but on June 12, 2010 his heart no doubt skipped a beat as he watched his bride Jakica Ivancevic walk down the aisle of Christ Church Cathedral in Newcastle.
Silverchair lead vocalist Daniel Johns, accustomed to sharing the stage with his band mate, stood by the groom as one of two best men during the afternoon ceremony, which was conducted in the presence of family and friends, including fellow group member Chris Joannon, model Louise Van de Vorst and Australian MTV’s Mitchell Tomlinson.
Fate, which had brought the two together as teenagers, separated the soul mates until intertwining their lives once again in July 2009. The pair’s romantic reunion started the couple on a path which first led to a January 2010 proposal before culminating in an “I do.”
For her special day, the bride wore bridal attire by designer and Project Runway Australia mentor Henry Roth. According to The Sydney Morning Herald, a 4.3 carat pink diamond sparkled on her ring finger, its brilliant hue matching the dresses donned by her bridesmaids.
