Tennis Great Roger Federer Marries

Roger Federer may be ranked second in the world at the moment, but the tennis champ holds the number one spot in the heart of his bride, Miroslava “Mirka” Vavrinec.

The couple’s romance, which ignited as the Olympic flame burned during the 2000 Sydney games, led to their walk down the aisle on April 11, 2009.

An intimate “I do,” the pair pledged their love in a ceremony held in the groom’s hometown of Basel, Switzerland, the multi-Grand Slam winner announced in a brief statement posted on his official web site.

Currently enjoying their first days of wedded bliss, the newlyweds are also awaiting the arrival of their first child this summer.
