Celebrating a flame of love that had not only re-ignited after a parting of the ways but had already led to an “I do” in a civil ceremony, Teatro La Fenice (The Phoenix Theater) was a fitting venue for actress Salma Hayak and Frencois-Henri Pinault to share a religious blessing of their union.
As evening began to drape a blanket of stars over the city of Venice, Italy on April 25, 2009, a cluster of heavenly bodies below– including Charlize Theron and Stuart Townsend, Bono, Penelope Cruz, Luis Miguel, Edward Norton and more– were among the 150 guests who gathered at the opera house to witness the couple’s second wedding ceremony.
According to People magazine, the bride clutched a bouquet of crystal-accented orchids and stephanotis as she walked down the aisle in a Balenciaga creation, its beauty enhanced with the addition of a diaphanous veil which cascaded from tresses styled into a bun.
Among those in the bridal party was the newlyweds daughter Valentina, who was dressed in a Bonpoint frock. The toddler no doubt enjoyed the joyful rendition of “Over The Rainbow,” sung by family and friends during the ceremony.
