She may have portrayed Kevin Arnold’s childhood crush in the ’90s dramedy The Wonder Years, but in real life actress Danica McKellar’s heart has long belonged to Mike Verta, her love of the past eight years who became her husband on March 22, 2009.
The couple’s romance, which began in 2001, led them to the altar at St. James By the Sea Episcopal Church in La Jolla, California, Radar online reported. Approximately 150 friends and family members, including the bride’s former cast mates Dan Lauria and Alley Mills, watched bridesmaids clad in purple halter-style gowns stroll down the aisle before standing in honor of the bride as the San Diego Symphony played, escorting the star to her groom, who had donned a black tuxedo and white bow tie for the happy occasion.
Clutching a bouquet composed of pale-petaled roses interspersed with ivy, the actress/author/mathematician made her grand entrance in a mermaid silhouette created by Renee Strauss, whose bridal attire has been seen both at red carpet events and in small screen wedding ceremonies on Reba and General Hospital. Adding to the garment’s ambiance of elegance was a tiara which fastened to a fingertip veil that danced joyfully in the breeze as the newlyweds enjoyed their first moments as husband and wife on the steps outside the house of worship.
