As the host of Canadian Idol, Ben Mulroney is accustomed to stepping aside when hopeful hit makers perform. On October 30, 2008, however, the TV personality took center stage as he said “I do” to fashion designer/stylist Jessica Brownstein. Illuminating the late fall evening, photographer’s flashbulbs brightened the bride’s path as she clutched a white fur cape which kept the nighttime chill at bay as well as keeping her wedding dress a secret as she made her way to the entrance of St. Patrick’s Basilica in the heart of Montreal, Canada. Arriving in a separate limousine, the groom darted in a side entrance before the start of the half-hour ceremony.
Inside the basilica’s Our Lady Chapel, 75 guests– including the groom’s father, former prime minister Brian Mulroney– stood in honor of the bride as she walked down the aisle in a classic creation, its lace-accented overlay gently fluttering as she walked to the altar to speak her self-penned vows during a ceremony which honored the couple’s Catholic and Jewish heritage, The Gazette reported.
The newlyweds are expected to celebrate with 350 friends and family members the following day.
