Accustomed to hearing the blast of a referee’s whistle and the roar of a stadium crowd, Australian rules footballer Michael Doughty heard the peal of wedding bells on October 11, 2008. Looking dapper in a classic black Axel Beers suit, the midfielder for the Adelaide Crows stood at the altar of The Monastery at Glen Osmond and waited for the arrival of his long-time love, Sara Vecchio,Adelaide Now reports.
One hundred and fifty family members and friends– including fellow footballers Brett Burton and Simon Goodwin– rose from the pews as the bride made her entrance in Suzana Lucci creation, its trumpet skirt gently rustling as she clutched a bouquet of ivory roses and proceeded down the aisle. During the ceremony, sunlight streamed through the parish’s stain glass windows, as though blessing the couple’s union as they pledged their devotion.
Following the exchange of vows, the newlyweds embarked on a honeymoon excursion to Thailand.
